PRAYER CONCERNS
Mennonite Central Committee grieves the loss of service worker Glen D. Lapp following an attack on his medical team in northeastern Afghanistan. We call the church to prayer for Glen’s loved ones, family and friends of the others who perished, staff of our partner organization in Afghanistan, the people of Afghanistan, and the people who carried out this tragic act. Glen truly showed Christ’s love and compassion and the biblical call to peacemaking in serving with the Afghan people. He will be remembered.

DANFORTH ANNOUNCEMENTS
Tim Reimer will be away on vacation from August 6th to 23rd. During this time, if matters of Pastoral concern arise, please call the Elders, whose numbers are listed above.
Recently a number of historical items have gone missing from the church, including three or four photo albums. The identity of other items is unknown, but the place where they used to be is now empty. While being pleased that people are showing interest in our history, I am concerned that these items be located so that the centennial book committee will have access to them for reference purposes. If you have any of this, can you let me know, or return it to the church office. Thanks, Bill Bryson
Beginning a New Century Together – join us at our retreat at Fraser Lake on Sept. 10 – 12. Marilyn Zehr will be our resource person for Friday & Saturday. Please submit your registration forms & registration fees ASAP either in person to Jon Beer or Kim Bowman, or in their mailboxes.

We will visit Mennonite sites in the GTA on this all-day bike ride. Go the distance, (approximately 100k) or ride part way. Details with exact meeting place and time to follow. Contact Richard Manz or Anne Reesor for information.
We have been invited to meet with MCEC leadership and with other GTA Cluster leaders on Tuesday Sept. 21 at 7pm at Hagerman Mennonite Church. The agenda should cover: (1) MCEC’s purpose and vision; (2) priorities for allocation of resources; and (3) how to ensure financial support for MCEC ministries. We need to send our list of delegates by Sept. 7. Please confirm with Mike DeHaan by Sunday Sept. 5th.
