ANNOUNCEMENTS
On Wed. Jan. 11 at 10:00 am there will be a meeting at the church to discuss a vision for outreach, DMC style. Several other items, including Vacation Bible Camp, will also be discussed. Everyone is welcome to participate. Please let Linda Donohoe or Dalton know if you will be there.
We may be small, but we are mighty!!! Thank you so much for your continuing support of both our food drive and the mitten tree project. Once again you demonstrated that individuals and small groups can make a difference. Krista, Dave, Dylan and Sadie delivered to Woodbine Heights Baptist Church approx. 100 lbs. of dry goods that you donated. As well, Ruth Ewert picked up bags that contained 41 pairs of gloves/mitts, 64 hats, 10 scarves, 16 pairs of socks and 1 blanket. These will be distributed by the Evergreen Centre to street youth and their children. Thanks for caring.
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL- We have a few spots left to teach Children’s Sunday School during Church for the new year. A long term commitment is not required. We are looking for anyone who has a willingness to serve in this area. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Thanks, Jennifer Hayward.
Monday, January 9, 7:30 pm. Women’s group will meet at LaVerna Reimer’s home, 31 Clapperton Ave. All women welcome for a time of fellowship.
Friday, January 13, at 6:40 pm Out of the Cold program at Eastminster Church. 310 Danforth Ave. come with your voices and instruments to provide music for the homeless while they eat their dinner. Speak with Dalton if you have any questions.
Saturday, January 14, 9:00 am. Men’s Breakfast. All males welcome.
We will be doing the evening program at SCOC on Sunday Jan.15th. Everyone is welcome to join the Danforth Tabernacle Choir.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held Jan. 29, 2012 after the morning service and a finger-food potluck lunch. Please reserve the first half of that afternoon for this important business meeting.
As always, REPORTS are due from the various standing committees. To have the amalgamated report in everyone’s hands by Sunday Jan. 22, Carolyn needs to have an electronic copy (ie a Word document) in her in-box by Sunday Jan. 15th.
Congratulations to the committee chair who already submitted her report before fleeing Toronto’s wintry weather!
One agenda item for this meeting will be some discussion of Vacation Bible Camp for 2012.
Although “new business from the floor” will be welcome, it would help if you tell Mike DeHaan about it earlier so we can all be prepared to discuss it.
NOTE: DMC’s Annual General Meeting is open to anyone who attends here, regardless of formal membership status. As always, first-time guests are especially welcome to the potluck.
Adult Sunday School Schedule - 10:00 am.
January 22 – JHY – The Quaker Experience
January 29 – JHY – Reinhold Niebuhr’s Realistic Critique
Council is pleased to announce that Pastor “Ash” of the Freedom Gospel congregation will be renting the office on the main floor. In the past, that room has seen service as the Outreach Worker’s office, a Sunday School room, the library, storage closets, and sometimes a bedroom for visiting TOOLS groups. However, for at least the next year it will be Pastor Ash’s office and “off limits” to the Danforth congregation except for whatever materials we did not manage to store elsewhere.
Council also thanks Vic Guerin and Marg Beer for serving on the liaison committee for the rental arrangements with the Freedom Gospel congregation. If you’re wondering where the library materials went, they know! Danforth gains an increase in rental income, while Pastor Ash obtains a much improved office space. We look forward to the continued growth and success of our sister congregation.
