PRAYER CONCERNS 

Lazarus Rising requests your prayers at this time.  Street Pastor Emily Dueck has experienced a recurring illness and has had to take some weeks off.  Pray for healing.  Street Pastor Doug Hatlem Johnson has had to deal with a number of difficult situations on the street.  Pray for guidance.  November/December is traditionally a time when Lazarus Rising donations peak.  Pray for generous donors, as our reserves are low and the needs are great.  Make cheques payable to “Toronto United Mennonite Church” (our treasurer) and send to Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, 1038 Woodbine Ave, Toronto, ON   M4C 4C4

Thank-you! to Dalton and Carol for organizing a delightful afternoon tea for seniors on sunny Thursday, Nov. 11!

Christian Peacemaker Teams sends its sincere thank you to Danforth Mennonite Church for its recent donation of $300.

The Gift Discernment committee is beginning to look at what vacancies there will be on committees for next year. We anticipate vacancies on the following committees:  Church Council, MVS, Historian, Outreach( Coordinator), Treasurer. We ask you to pray about where you feel led to serve or maybe you have a name to suggest to the committee for any of these vacancies. Please contact Marg Beer, Margaret Amanatides, or Erma Martin with your willingness to serve or suggestions. Thank You for giving this your prayerful, thoughtful consideration.

SCOC Peppermint Fair – November 20, 10:00am – 2:00 pm     Time to think about buying crafts, woodwork and preserves  at SCOC annual Christmas Fair.  Raffle tickets are available for a large double Mennonite quilt and the draw will take place on December 20th. Tea Room will be open for coffee, tea and muffins and a light lunch.      The Nursing Home at SCOC will have its own table at this years   Fair. For those of you who have any canning or crafts that they might like to donate to this table, please contact Sharon Wilkinson.

On Saturday, December 11th we will be holding our annual Christmas Dinner.  Come at 6:00 pm for punch and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm.  The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.  Everyone is welcome.  Please sign up on the sign up sheet (on the bulletin board) to let us know if you will be coming and also if you would be willing to help with the clean up.  We hope you will be able to join us for a wonderful evening.  Jennifer, Garry, Vic, Mary Jane, Erma & Bob.

DANFORTH ANNOUNCEMENTS

 On Thursday evening, Nov 4, about a dozen Mennonites from the GTA got together to talk about the various ways we interact with Muslim and Jewish friends.  We told stories of good conversations, joint service projects, and growing relationships with Muslims and Jews in our neighbourhoods and workplaces.  Another such gathering of Mennonites is planned for January.  Are you interested?  Is friendship with people of other faiths important to you?  Talk to Mary Groh, Tim Reimer, or Dalton Jantzi.

 Women’s group will meet Monday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Anne Reesor’s home, 24 Ashdale  Ave. All women are welcome for a time of fellowship.

 Out of the Cold Program This Friday, November  12, 6:40 pm at Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Avenue. Come with your voices and instruments to provide music for the homeless while they eat their dinner. Speak with Dalton Jantzi if you have any questions.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Our current deficit for the year is now $8,000.

Our givings needed to be 9% higher all year to meet the expenses.

Plan to give something extra in November and December. It is best if you give early in the month at this time of year.

Enjoy teaching children?  Rehoboth Evangelical Church is looking for a volunteer to teach Sunday School on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30pm.  These are Ethiopian children who are energetic Canadians who speak English!  (Their parents speak English and Amharic.  The Rehoboth Evangelical Church is a member of Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (Emerging Church) and they meet at the Danforth Baptist Church, near Danforth and Chester. 

Also, would you be interested in tutoring two Ethiopian children who recently came to Canada?  You could help them (a sixteen year old boy and a ten year old girl) with English and school work.  If you are interested in either of these opportunities please contact Tim Reimer.

MSCU invites you to Share our Common Values. This fall, Our CEO, Brent Zorgdrager, welcomes the opportunity to share mid-year updates and chat with our members, community partners and churches.  We welcome all members, as well as those who are interested in learning more about faith-based, cooperative financial services.  Check the poster in the lower lobby for dates and the closest branch location. Share a gift of education.
