Thursday, June 10, 2010, 7:30pm.  Coffee and Conversation with Gareth Brandt (Professor of Practical Theology at Colombia Bible College) about his new book Under Construction: Reframing Men’s Spirituality (Mennonite Publishing Network, 2010).  We at Danforth are hosting this event, and welcoming all GTA churches.  All men and women are welcome!

Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12, Theatre Returns to Danforth Mennonite Church.  You can scoff at the jailbird, but you will find yourself becoming nervous about your own destiny.  This one act play by John Wideman will have you laughing . . . at yourself, and seriously rethinking what it means to be liberated in mind.  “This Prison: Or, He Came Up Through The Floor” Acted by Ben Wert and John Wideman.

July 12 – 16, 2010 Vacation Bible Camp. Meet God on the Mountain. All children ages 4 to 13 are welcome. Registration forms are in the rack.

 DMC Church Retreat, Sept. 10 – 12:  Plan to join us at Fraser Lake Camp (near Bancroft), for outdoor fun (rock climbing, nature trails, canoeing, etc.) and fellowship for all ages!  Our theme is: “Beginning a new century together!”   More details re. cost and accommodation will be available shortly. Transportation needs and arrangements will be coordinated by the committee. RSVP deadline is August 15.  Retreat Planning Committee members are: Kim Bowman, Jon Beer & LaVerna Reimer.  We welcome your questions and suggestions!

 Notice of SCOC AGM – As the 2009/10 year draws to a close for St Clair O’Connor Community Inc. we invite you to join the Board and Staff of SCOC at the Annual General Meeting, to be held on June 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room at SCOC.  We value your support of the organization and if you are not a member of the corporation we urge you to do so. Doctors Without Borders is mounting  A Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City,   May 27 – 30  at  Christie Pits. This is a free, interactive exhibit.  You’ll be  personally guided through the camp by an experienced  MSF field worker and gain insight into the daily realities of 42 million people uprooted by war.

Mennonite Central Committee is seeking applications for Policy Analyst with the Ottawa Office, a full-time, salaried position. The Analyst will work as part of a team that provides expertise and assistance for MCC’s advocacy efforts on issues of peace, justice and human dignity in its relationship with the federal government and MCC Canada’s diverse community. MCC Ontario received positive feedback at a General Meeting this week, to its vision for a building in Kitchener that combines several MCC Thrift Shops with MCCO’s Head Office and five other Anabaptist Mennonite agencies.   There were concerns about parking costs, as well as location, especially for Thrift.    Please visit for more details and next steps on this exciting, good news venture.
