Archives Service During Construction. The Mennonite Archives of Ontario will be open for visitors during construction. Making an appointment in advance is highly recommended. During construction, we are limiting archival donations. Congregations can still send in their records from the previous year. Donations of all other records and books need to be discussed with the archivist in advance. We anticipate this restriction will be lifted in the fall of 2013. Please direct any questions to the archivist, Laureen Harder-Gissing, lharderg@uwaterloo.ca, 519-885-0220 x24238.
The Killing of Michael Eligon is an 18min video showing Doug Pritchard’s eye-witness account of the police shooting of Michael Eligon on Milverton Ave in our neighbourhood earlier this year. Doug Pritchard urges that our police be better equipped to understand people with mental health difficulties, and raises serious questions about how quickly a gun was used in this case. You can watch the video at http://vimeo.com/40549621.

Please pray for freedom for this man who has never been charged with a crime. Please consider coming to court for an hour or two and please pass this on to your friends.

The resurrection of Jesus our Lord is a frame that can be placed around the whole span of the life of our earthly bodies, from birth to death. In this sense, Easter is a good time to think about preparing for the end of life. When this topic came up at a recent Wednesday afternoon Bible study, the group thought we should put into the bulletin a reminder that it is wise to prepare or update our wills and to preplan funeral arrangements. Be encouraged to talk with family and friends about your own thoughts about dying. If you wish, you can even give Pastor Tim notes to keep on file, that you would like to be considered at the time of your funeral.

When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1Corinthians 15:54-58)

Thank You to everyone who brought in egg cartons for the food bank. They have enough for now, I will let you know when they need more. Barb Bryson.

How do you feel about the ways we use, or could use, technologies in our worship services? We are learning, and want to continue to learn together, how we can enhance worship and not distract from worship using various kinds of technologies, including microphones, hearing assistance devices, projections on the screen, etc. Let’s continue to listen to, and talk to, one another about these things. You can also talk with members of the Worship Committee, Linda DeHaan, Mary Groh, Sue Schultz, Margaret Amanatides, and Pastor Tim Reimer, or any of the preachers who use projections. Let’s be creative, and let’s be considerate.

Wednesdays, 2:00-3:30 Bible Study at the Church

Last week we found the end of the Book of Isaiah at the beginning of the book of Acts. This week we will find the opposite: The beginning of Isaiah (Isa 6:9-10) at the end of the Book of Acts (Acts 28:23-30). Everyone is welcome. Disagreements are probably as inevitable as new faith insights! (Acts 28:25). Lively and respectful discussions are the norm!

Save the date – Saturday, May 5. The group that met on Feb. 29 decided on 5 service projects for that date and identified a coordinator for each of them. The assignment for one of the teams is to provide lunch for all the work team members back at Linda Donohoe’s home around 12:30. We’re hoping you’ll sign up for one of the projects and the coordinator will contact you with further details. Generally, we’re planning on working approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours then enjoying time together eating and sharing stories. Check out the sign-up sheets on the bulletin board.

What does it mean to be a transformed and sent people? How do we allow God to transform us? What does leadership look like in our post-Christendom society? Join us April 27-28 for the MCEC Annual Church Gathering at UMEI Christian High School, 614 Road 6, Leamington, for an exciting time of reflecting on missional leadership. Speak with Tim Reimer to register.

If you wish, you can even give Pastor Tim notes to keep on file, that you would like to be considered at the time of your funeral
