Welcome
…to the Danforth Mennonite Church of Toronto, Ontario
Toronto’s Danforth Mennonite Church welcomes Mennonites and Christians of all denominations to worship with us; and we welcome any visitors who may wonder where we hitch the horses and buggies. (Sorry, we drive cars, ride bikes, take transit or walk to church).
Where and When
The Danforth Mennonite Church is at 2174 Danforth Avenue in Toronto – just a short block east of the Woodbine subway station, on the north side of Danforth.
On Sunday Sept. 9, 2012, we resumed our regular hours: Adult Sunday School at 10:00 am, and the Worship Service at 11. During most 11am worship services, we also provide Sunday School for children from age 4 and up. This is our usual schedule from early September through June. (Our summer schedule runs through July and August through the first Sunday of September, the Labour Day weekend, with worship at 10:30 am. Sunday School does not meet).
Hello…
A bit about us: With fewer than one hundred members, we’re located in the east end of Toronto on Danforth Avenue – just steps from the city’s subway system, and near major expressways.
This Mennonite congregation in Toronto is very much like the busy street on which our church was built: The businesses and shops on the Danforth may have changed, but through it all we’ve grown and developed.
Our diverse cultural and religious backgrounds enliven discussions and potlucks. Our commitment to peace and justice continues our tradition of service to the neighbourhood.
The 1994/95 renovation to our building made it accessible and multi-use.
Throughout the week it serves as a centre for church and community programs. On Sundays the Danforth congregation gathers for church school and worship, and you are most welcome to join us.

Our Centennial Celebrations were held April 15-17, 2012:
In 2012, we celebrated 100 years at 2174 Danforth during the Palm Sunday weekend of April 15-17 with:
- A “birthday party” hosted at the St. Clair – O’Connor Community at 2pm Friday afternoon
- A reunion for “Youth and Former Youth” on Friday evening
- An open house at DMC from 2-4 pm Saturday afternoon: we especially invite our neighbours on the Danforth to join us for birthday cake
- A Hymn Sing on Saturday evening, starting at 7:30 pm
- Join us for a Coffee Hour on Sunday at 10am, a change from the usual Adult Sunday School session
- A Worship Service on Sunday at 11am, followed by a potluck lunch and a special program (including open microphone) to cap the celebrations
Thanks to all who attended: our former members who had moved away; our personal friends and relatives; representatives from our sister churches; our neighbours and politicians.
Thanks to the organizations that helped us celebrate, especially the St. Clair O’Connor Community, Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, the Toronto Chinese Mennonite Church and the Freedom Gospel Church.
Our biggest thanks are for the committee members and volunteers for organizing, arranging, planning and delegating all the work.
If you have any questions, please see our Contact page for further details.
If you missed it, please feel welcome to visit us anyway, to help build the history for our second century.
