Mennonite Boys Can Cook

Men’s Breakfast – 2nd Saturday of the month

It was during the congregation’s Family Activity Weekend of October 29, 30, and 31, 1988 that the Mennonite Boys of DMC cooked up a storm for their first Men’s Breakfast.  The menu featured bacon and eggs and all the trimmings.

Our follow-up breakfast was at the end of October 1998, with a repeat performance a year later.  That 1999 breakfast established our commitment to monthly breakfasts, which continues to the present.

We have an established list of cooks who chose what they will cook on their assigned month so that our menu is constantly varying.  Our numbers are fairly constant at around ten.

Coffee is started, and cooking begins around 8:30, with breakfasters arriving around 9 am, ready for coffee and table setup.  Eating is always underway by 9:15.

Besides eating, we talk.  We talk about all manner of subjects, such as baseball – only, ever, once – supporting micro-loans in poorer countries, faith and religion, politics and elections, as well as our prostates.
