About

The Danforth Mennonite Church, at 2174 Danforth Ave. in Toronto, is wheelchair-accessible.

Pastor Pieter has 17 years of congregational ministry experience, which incorporated both pastoral care and local social justice initiatives. He served as a reservist for 20 years with Community Peacemaker Teams (formerly Christian Peacemaker Teams) and has extensive experience in leading learning tours to the Middle East. Pieter has worked for the past seven years with Canadian Jesuits International, an international solidarity agency of the Jesuits of Canada that supports poor and marginalized people internationally. Pieter’s faith is rooted in God’s inclusive love and Jesus’ prayer for God’s “kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” Pieter and his husband, Mauricio, joined the Danforth community February 1 of 2025 and are looking forward to sharing life together with the Danforth Mennonite community.

Raising Awareness

Project-Land-Back – Wiigwaasikaa (Dawes Rd. along Taylor Creek)
We are reaching out to this group of Indigenous young people who are establishing an autonomous space to heal through community along with traditional medicines and Land Based Teachings. They are creating a space for present and future generations to be in communion with all of creation. Their desire is to establish connection with tradition, ceremony, sacred medicines, food, the elements, the animals, and each other.
